This notice explains what information Expat Legacy Secrets collects, why it is used and the choices you have.

Who is responsible for your information?

Sue Berry, trading as Expat Legacy Secrets and The Legacy Footprint Lady, is the data controller for information collected through this website. The business is based in Spain. You can contact Sue through the Contact page or write to Expat Legacy Secrets, Lytchett House, Freeland Park, Lytchett Matravers, Poole, BH16 6FA, United Kingdom. This is a correspondence address.

What we collect

We may collect your email address, your newsletter choice, your Readiness Assessment scores and answers expressed as category results, your optional marketing choice, free downloads you request, and information you choose to send through the contact form. The website also counts limited activity such as page views, assessment starts, downloads, affiliate advert views and affiliate-link clicks without storing those events against a named visitor. We do not ask for passwords, PINs, banking logins or card security details.

Why we use it

  • To prepare and send the readiness report or free download you request.
  • To respond to questions submitted through the contact form.
  • To send Expat Legacy Secrets updates only when you separately choose to receive them.
  • To understand which guidance is useful, measure affiliate-link activity and keep the service working securely.

Our legal basis

We rely on your request and consent to prepare your report, your consent for optional marketing, and legitimate interests where necessary to operate and protect the service. You can withdraw marketing consent at any time.

Analytics and cookies

The website's own limited activity counts do not identify you by name. Google Tag Manager starts with analytics and advertising storage denied. Google Analytics is optional and receives permission only after you choose “Accept analytics”. If you choose “Essential only”, analytics storage remains denied. You can reopen “Privacy choices” at any time to change your selection.

Service providers

Information may be processed by providers that help run the website, store files, measure website performance and deliver email, including Cloudflare, Resend and, when you consent, Google Analytics. They should receive only the information needed to provide their service.

How long we keep information

  • Readiness Assessment and free-download delivery records: up to 90 days after delivery.
  • Contact enquiries: up to 24 months after the last meaningful contact, unless the enquiry develops into a service relationship or a longer period is needed to deal with a complaint or legal claim.
  • Newsletter details: while you remain subscribed. After you unsubscribe, we keep only the minimum suppression record needed to respect that choice.
  • Sterna contact requests: up to 12 months after the last action, unless a complaint, legal claim or legal obligation requires longer.
  • Payment, invoice and accounting records: for the period required by applicable tax and accounting law.
  • Limited website activity counts and security logs: only for as long as needed to understand use, protect the service and meet provider or legal requirements.

We review these records and delete or anonymise information that is no longer needed. A request to delete information may be limited where we must keep it for a legal obligation or an unresolved claim.

Your rights

You may unsubscribe from newsletter emails at any time by replying with “unsubscribe” or contacting Sue. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to processing, and to withdraw consent. You may also complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD) or the relevant data-protection authority where you live.

Sterna contact requests and videos

If you request contact from Sterna Abogados, with your permission we store your name, email, source Secret, consent wording and email-processing status and send your request to the Sterna Abogados team. We also email you an acknowledgement. No case documents are requested. Optional ELS marketing permission is separate and unticked by default. Contact Sue to withdraw permission or request removal; details already sent cannot be recalled. Sterna is responsible for its subsequent handling of your enquiry.

Article outbound-click counts record the source article and destination website, not destination query strings or a named visitor. Official redirect counts identify the managed link. Embedded videos contact YouTube only after you choose to load them; YouTube then receives connection information and may use cookies.
